Teeing up for a Cause : The 28th Annual Dave Ritchie Golf Tournament

Spread the love

On June 13, 2026 IAM members from across Toronto and the GTA gathered together for the 28th Dave Ritchie Golf Tournament, at the Remington Parkview Golf and Country Club, in a show of solidarity and support for the Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines Canada.

It was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a day on the course while coming together to support a cause that truly changes lives. The funds raised help provide highly trained service dogs to individuals who depend on them for greater independence, confidence, and everyday support. This was not just a tradition that was carried on, but a powerful way to create a future of caring, compassion and brotherhood, that are the core values of our beloved Union.

A heartfelt thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers, organizers, and participants whose generosity, hard work, and dedication made this year’s tournament such a success. Your support helps make a real difference in the lives of so many. Through your generosity and philanthropy you make this world a better place for all.

Local 1231 was a proud Gold Sponsor of the event.

Highlights of the Day :

Golfing experienced at the Remington Parkview Golf & Country Club on Saturday June 13, 2026 was both enjoyable and memorable.

From the outset, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, creating the perfect setting for both recreation and fellowship. Spending the day with fellow union members allowed for meaningful conversations, shared laughter, and the strengthening of professional and fraternal bonds outside of the workplace.

What stood out most was the strong sense of camaraderie throughout the day. The experience went beyond golf, it became an opportunity to build unity, connection, and mutual respect among members.

Overall, it was a refreshing and fulfilling outing that combined leisure with solidarity, and one I would gladly experience again.

The event was arranged by our union IAM. It was a great opportunity for me to play golf for the first time in my life. We participated from Local 1231 under the district 78 including our President and other EB members. It was well organized and enjoyable event. The event continued until 6 pm then grand dinner, raffle draw and much more.
I learnt from the event how to play golf. We played it with a group and played at all spots from spot 1 to spot 18. All the logistics including ball, bat and driving vehicle provided by the club. The management staff were very friendly and provided all necessary support as needed, like supplying water, hot dogs and so on.
Overall, I learnt how to play golf and want to continue my learning in the days ahead. Besides, it was enjoyable and had opportunities from the other locals’ people to share each other’s experiences.
Thanks go to Local 1231 for the opportunity.
