The Dave Ritchie Annual Golf tournament 2025 was held at the scenic Remington Parkview Golf and Country Club in Markham. The proceeds of this tournament goes to ‘The Guide Dogs of America -Tender Loving Canines Canada’.
Our Local was honoured to take part in this special fundraising effort. It was a beautiful day filled with camaraderie, friendly competition and a shared purpose.
Guide Dogs of America – Tender Loving Canines Canada transforms lives through partnerships with service dogs. They breed, raise, and train guide dogs for those who are blind/visually impaired and service dogs for veterans and children with autism. Their highly skilled canines become trusted companions that increase confidence, mobility, and independence.
In an earlier address to the IAM union members the IAM Canadian GVP Dave Chartrand mentioned how this annual fundraiser has been one of the IAM’s primary fundraising efforts for many years. He said, “We are proud that we collectively have helped so many members, friends and family, find independence, help and comfort with special dogs – and they need our help.”
The event culminated with speeches from Canadian GVP Dave Chartrand and IAM Chief of Staff Canada, Ralph Martin thanking members for their participation, generosity and show of solidarity. This was followed by draws for the raffles with exciting prizes and a sumptuous dinner with generous gifts being handed out to all participants.
This was one of the biggest turnouts in many years and a total amount of CAD 110,000 was raised through these fundraising efforts.

Our Local is proud to have participated in this year’s fundraising golf tournament in support of Guide Dogs of America- Tender Loving Canines Canada. It was more than just a day on the green; it was a powerful reminder of the incredible impact we can make when we come together for a meaningful cause. Through every swing, donation and show of support, we helped provide life-changing assistance dogs to individuals and families across the country.
A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors and participants who made this event a success. Your generosity and solidarity reflect the very best of our union values – compassion, community and commitment.
Together, we’re not just raising funds – we’re changing lives.
