Please note that the online mandatory trainings conducted by the employer Spectrum Health Care are compulsory to complete.

Those employees who do not comply, will face disciplinary action from the employer.

If for some reason you are having difficulty completing the training, please contact your Home Support Supervisor or HR and notify them of your issue and they will provide you with the assistance required.

The lump sum payment referenced in the Ratification document will be paid within 30-45 days past ratification.

This is stated on the last page of the ratification document, third line from the top.

Note: Also stated is “the employee must be employed by Spectrum at the time of payment.”

The tentative agreement was ratified and passed with 87% acceptance.

The new collective agreements will be printed and distributed by mail as soon as possible. Please ensure Spectrum and the Union have your most current mailing address.

Here are a list of commonly asked questions and answers about the new contract. Please read carefully and if you require further explanation you can contact the District 78 office at 4162259003.

The coming two months of October and November, are crucial in terms of making changes to the By-laws, which will affect policies surrounding the workings of your union and the future of your work and professional environment. By-laws done effectively, ensure that members are clear about the organization’s purpose and processes.

Please mark your calendars and make sure you attend the Union meetings on these important dates, when there will be readings of the Bylaw changes and then subsequently, a vote to pass the proposed changes.

The first reading of the By-law changes will be on October 19th, 2023

The second reading of the By-law changes, discussion and voting of the proposed changes will be on November 16, 2023

“The union on behalf of the negotiations committee sent out the ballot packet to all 1231 Members home address, please check your mailbox for an envelope from the union. Inside this envelope is a small ballot envelope, a ballot, and a self-addressed stamped envelope. 

Please read the letter explaining the proposed changes and then mark your ballot, place it in the small envelope marked ballot, and then place the ballot envelope inside the self-addressed stamped envelope and mail it back to the district. 

Please note the envelope must be received on or before October 6, 2023.”

Your IAM Negotiations Committee is happy to report that we have reached a tentative agreement with Spectrum Healthcare. Your negotiations committee is comprised of PSW’s and Nurses, from all three branches, as well as Union Representatives. 

Please watch your home mailbox for a copy of the tentative changes, as well as a mail-in ballot which will be sent out next Thursday to your last known home address.  If you have moved recently, please ensure your employer has your current address on file before Monday Sept 18, 2023.

As you are all well aware, currently, negotiations are going on with the Employer Spectrum Healthcare, for the next Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The Bargaining committee involved in these negotiations, consists of capable and astute members from amongst your peers, who are RN’s , RPN’s and PSW’s.

With regards to this, we would like you to forward your current contact information to the Human Resources Department of your branch at Spectrum, via your Spectrum email. The email should include your full name, employee no., branch you work in, your mailing address, contact no. and personal email at the earliest. This is imperative so that important communications can be relayed to you in a timely manner.
