IAM members will participate in the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival on Saturday, June 29, 2024. This historic gathering will bring together poor people, workers, and their allies to advocate for a moral public policy agenda that supports living wages, voting rights, and other essential policies aimed at uplifting the economically disadvantaged.

“Our union’s participation in this campaign is a testament to our membership’s unwavering commitment to unity and support for all workers,” said IAM International President Brian Bryant. “IAM members always stand in solidarity in advocating for a fair and just society.”

The Mass Poor People’s & Low-Wage Workers’ Assembly and Moral March on Washington, D.C. & to the Polls aims to mobilize outreach to 15 million poor and low-wage infrequent voters ahead of the 2024 U.S. elections. IAM members in the D.C. area are encouraged to participate in this significant event.

“The IAM is proud to participate in the Poor People’s Campaign,” said IAM Human Rights Director Nicole L. Fears. “We are committed to demanding that candidates for public office in 2024 support policies that ensure living wages, protect voting rights, and address the urgent needs of poor and low-wage workers. This event is a pivotal moment for us to amplify our voices and show the strength of the IAM.”

Event details are as follows:

  • Date: Saturday, June 29, 2024
  • Time: 10 a.m. ET
  • Location: 3rd St. and Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. 20004

“We know that poverty is an unacceptable and unnecessary abolishable reality that can be changed if there’s political will to do so,” said Bishop William J. Barber, II, national co-chair of the Poor People’s Campaign. “If you believe that poor and low wage people should be centered in our politics and if you believe in a moral movement and movement vote – not just a political vote – and if you believe in the moral public policy agenda, then we need you in the nation’s capital on June 29th to help change our politics. Together, we can rebuild this democracy and transform it into the nation we know it can be.”
