The IAM Union Canada is committed to representing our members and advocating for their rights and livelihoods. As part of this commitment, we recently submitted detailed recommendations to Global Affairs Canada during the public consultations on the Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).
In our submission, we highlighted the challenges Canadian workers face, including the erosion of our manufacturing base, the offshoring of skilled jobs, and trade policies that too often favour corporate interests over workers. We proposed measures to strengthen labour protections, support unionized Canadian manufacturers, and ensure fair trade rules that benefit working people.
We are actively working to make sure the voices of our members are heard in shaping trade agreements that protect jobs, uphold high standards for labour rights, and support Canadian families and communities.
