It was a picnic with a purpose – To celebrate our Union family.
On Saturday July 12th, members of our union came together for a well-deserved day of relaxation, laughter and connection at the annual Local 1231 Union picnic. It was held at the beautiful Richmond Green Venue and organized by the Local’s talented and enterprising, Social and Women’s Committee members. With clear skies and warm sunshine, the weather set the perfect backdrop for a fantastic summer celebration.
The event saw a great turnout of members, families and friends, some of which included Members from the IAM Canadian Leadership like, GVP Dave Chartrand, International Representative Scott Jackson, International Representative Derek Ferguson, Communications Representative Vanessa Breidy and GVP Confidential Secretary Magaly Fadely, all enjoying a sizzling barbecue that catered to all tastes and dietary preferences. From classic grilled favourites to vegetarian options, no one left hungry.
The day was filled with exciting activities for all ages. Kids and adults lined up for colourful face painting, while other adults and children alike joined in friendly competitions of ladder ball and ring toss. Laughter and cheers echoed across the park as everyone took part in the fun.
Raffle draws kept the energy high, with a variety of exciting prizes up for grabs. Gift bags were handed out as a token of appreciation, making sure everyone went home with something to remember the day.
Events like this remind us of the strength of our union family and the importance of taking time to connect outside of the workplace.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day a success. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
